A little help

Let’s clear
a few things up.

Questions about your diary, your data or what’s coming? Start here.

MacroMonkey is currently in development. These answers describe the current app. A public download will be linked from the homepage when it’s available.

When can I get MacroMonkey?

MacroMonkey is in development for iPhone. There isn’t a public download or a confirmed launch date yet. This website will link to the App Store or a public beta when one is available.

What can I track?

The current app lets you log calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat, set your own targets, save favourite foods and build recipes. You review the portion and nutrition before saving an entry to your diary.

Which iPhones will it support?

The current app requires iOS 26 or later. Optional on-device estimates also need a compatible Apple Intelligence device, model and supported language. Final availability will be listed with the public release.

Can I use it offline?

Manual logging, saved foods and your local diary work offline. Importing a recipe from a website needs an internet connection. External food search is not enabled in the current release configuration.

How does Apple Health work?

Apple Health sharing is optional. With your permission, MacroMonkey can write the confirmed nutrients you select. It does not read your Health data or increase your targets based on exercise.

Can I export or back up my diary?

You can export a selected date range as CSV or JSON. These files are readable copies, not backups you can restore inside the app. The current diary is excluded from automatic device backup, so deleting the app or changing phones can lose your diary. Recovery is being reviewed before public release.

Editing a meal

Open an entry in your diary, review its portion and nutrition, and save your changes. Your daily totals update with the entry. Setting a new goal uses an effective date, so past targets can remain distinct from today’s.

Working with estimates

Estimates are a starting point, not measured nutrition. Review the recognised foods, amounts and assumptions before saving. Supported devices and languages vary; you can still enter food manually when a model is unavailable.

Keeping a copy of your entries

Use Settings → Export to choose a date range and save CSV or JSON files. Keep exported files somewhere you control. The current app cannot import them to restore a diary. Avoid deleting the app as a troubleshooting step if you want to keep your local entries.

Apple Health and permissions

Choose which confirmed nutrients to share in MacroMonkey’s Health settings. You can change Health permissions in Apple’s system settings. Turning sharing off stops future writes; it does not erase samples already in Apple Health. Those can be managed in the Health app.
